INSTITUTE OF FUNDRAISING VOTES HOSPITAL GIFT’S SISTER SCHEME ‘GIFT TO CHARITY’ AS LATEST INNOVATION ZONE SUCCESS!

It’s the Dragon’s Den for innovative fundraising schemes and Gift To Charity, based on the new Hospital Gift, has come out on top!

Gift To Charity is exactly the same as Hospital Gift with the exception that customers can register their support and generate donations for their chosen registered charity or ‘not for profit’ organisation. Every other aspect is identical to the new, bigger and better Hospital Gift.

The Innovation Zone is organised by the Institute of Fundraising, the professional membership body for UK Fundraising. It’s a ground breaking initiative that nurtures innovation in fundraising by providing a forum where suppliers and fundraisers get together to assess and review the most up to date products which raise money for charities.

Organised twice a year, Gift To Charity entered the February competition and was shortlisted to enter the ‘Dragon’s Den’ and present to a panel consisting of representatives from leading charities and the Institute of Fundraising.

The panel concluded that Gift to Charity was a good additional fundraising scheme that could be easily used by supporters. The scheme received 4 marks out of 5 for its practical application and was given 10 out of a maximum 15 across all categories.

In contrast, the other supplier in the Innovation Zone Final received 5 marks out of 15.

The panel also concluded:

  • As Gift To Charity is free to use, charities could benefit with relatively little outlay.
  • It was considered distinct from other systems in that a number of major High Street stores have adopted the system.
  • The 50/50 split for charity and individual benefit was considered a good deal that would appeal to a variety of people from a range of demographics.
